Greggain Gains status on the LPGA
Tour for '08
A
Warm-felt congratulations go out to Chilliwack Professional
Jennifer Greggain who played her way onto the 2008 LPGA
Tour. Greggain fired rounds of 73,74,75,71,70 to bring her into
a position of T42nd and conditional status on the LPGA which is
great news. Greggain played on the LPGA back in 2005 before
losing her card and then worked her way through a year on the
Duramed Futures Tour in '06 which she admitted to being a very
challenging tour to earn a living on. 'The costs of travelling
and competition versus purse sizes on the Futures Tour made it a
difficult concept to earn a living' stated Greggain back at one
of the two VGT events she played in this spring.
Greggain chose to stay local in 2007, representing Chilliwack
Golf & Country Club and playing in mostly local competition.
When she spotted an ad in the Chilliwack Times for the VGT
Opening event at Sandpiper, Jennifer tee'd-it-up in two VGT
events that would give her some tournament experience for later
events. Jennifer played on the CN Canadian Women's Tour and had
a few great finishes to place her 7th overall for the season.
Ultimately this would gave her the experiences and confidence
she would require to take down to the LPGA Tour Qualifying
School.
Greggain's great play at the Q-school will allow her access to a
limited schedule of events (10-15 out of 30) that could turn
into a complete schedule if she plays well enough early in the
year. Needless to say, all of us at the Vancouver Golf Tour
would like to congratulate Jennifer on her fine play at the
Qualifying School and wish her a great 2008 campaign on the LPGA
Tour.
Best Wishes!

2007 VANCOUVER OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
University Golf Club
Dear Golfers,
The recent Vancouver Open Presented
by Perfect Lies capped a successful Inaugural season for the
Vancouver Golf Tour. Our season ended in classic style as our
Order of Merit leader Phil Jonas shot an amazing score of 63 to
win the Open, break the UGC course record and win the overall
Order of Merit. Jonas’ fine play resulted in a paid entry down
to the 2008 PGA Tour Qualifying School. Justin Hyun was the low
amateur in the Open and the 2007 Amateur Order of Merit Winner
went to Stephen Jenkins.
Overall, the 2007 season turned out to be a tremendous success
and would not have been possible without our Title Sponsor
MarketPlace IGA and their supporting sponsors Coca-Cola &
Canada Bread who played a pivotal role in our Inaugural
season.

Swanson crowned ‘King’ at the ‘Links by the Sea’
2007 VGT SUMMER PRO-AM CHAMPIONSHIP
We couldn’t have asked for a
better day out at King’s Links by the Sea Golf Club in Boundary
Bay this Thursday. A fantastic venue for any golf tournament,
King’s Links proved to be all the golf course it is advertised
as: True Scottish Golf by the seaside. The only thing missing on
the day was the fierce winds….and rain.

Golden Ears Men’s Invitational
The Vancouver
Golf Tour could not have asked for two days of better weather at this
year’s Golden Ears Men’s Invitational contested at the Pitt
Meadows Golf Club. This year’s event was particularly special in that
the Golden Ears became a regular event on the 2007 Vancouver Golf Tour
schedule. With the rough up to 3 inches on average and the greens
playing firmer than average on day one, it was no surprise that.

Paul Claxton and Michael Letzig each shot 66
Thursday and lead by one stroke over Jeff Wood,
Bryn Parry and
Franklin Langham at the $600,000 Peek'n Peak Classic at Peek'n Peak
Resort as the Nationwide Tour reaches the halfway point in the 2007
season.
Parry grew up in Vancouver playing golf in Canada. The 35-year-old
Nationwide Tour rookie finished second at last year's Nationwide
Qualifier at the PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament. His round of seven
birdies and two bogeys included birdies on his final four holes.
"We've got courses just like this in Vancouver. The grass is the same
and the look of the course is the same, so I feel very comfortable."
Parry said. "Our family is really enjoying it here. The course and the
resort are great. It's nice to have my family here with me."
Parry credited finding a 3-wood that he felt comfortable with as the key
to his round.
"It hit it off a lot of holes today and I really hit it well," Parry
said. "I've been searching for a 3-wood for a while and this one really
worked for me."
Triple Header for Hallborg
at
Johnston Meier's Spring Championship'
Jeff Hallborg of Hi-Knoll
Teaching Centre in Surrey made it three wins in his last three
Vancouver Golf Tour outings to capture win the Johnston Meier
Insurance Spring Championship and Pro-am. Hallborg's fine score
of 66 was a result of 6 birdies and no bogeys on the card - good
for a tie for first after regulation play with Fraserview
Professional Dan Swanson. Swanson vaulted his way into a
playoff with Hallborg with a fine back nine score of 31,
birdying his last two holes. However, at the completion of three
playoff holes, Hallborg's par was good enough for him to take
Individual Professional honors and take home $1,200. His win
also resulted in a bonus $500 for winning the VGT Spring Order
of Merit, winning over Phil Phil Jonas of McCleery Golf Course
and Hazelmere by only $400.Read entire story >

announce Professional Dan Swanson

Amateur partner Richard Kellington
(left) of Guilford Golf Club as the winners
of the 2007 BC Match Play Team Championship. Swanson and
Kellington’s 6 & 4 win over Northview Professional Matt Palsenbarg and

did right beginning on the qualifying tournament on April 1st, which
ranked them the 4th seed spot in the draw.

Parry making his name known on the Nationwide Tour!
This
weekend proved to be bittersweet for Vancouver Golf Tour 'graduate' and
Seymour Creek Golf Professional Bryn Parry. With a fantastic Saturday
round of 65, Parry worked his way up the leader board and went into
Sunday's round with a share of the lead in the Nationwide Tour's Henrico
County Open at 12 under par. Looking as confident as he has been the
past year locally, Parry opened up the front nine with five birdies and
a score of -4 to get to -16 on the day and opened up at one point a four
shot lead on the field.
With the tension mounting on all the back nine, Parry
bogeyed the 10th and with the wind gusting on his 9-iron shot on the par
3 11th, Parry's shot narrowly found the water guarding the front pin
which turned into a double bogey 5.
