'Triple Header for Hallborg at Johnston Meier's Spring Championship'

Jeff Hallborg of Hi-Knoll Teaching Centre in Surrey made it three wins in his last three Vancouver Golf Tour outings to capture win the Johnston Meier Insurance Spring Championship and Pro-am. Hallborg's fine score of 66 was a result of 6 birdies and no bogeys on the card - good for a tie for first after regulation play with Fraserview Professional Dan Swanson. Swanson vaulted his way into a playoff with Hallborg with a fine back nine score of 31, birdying his last two holes. However, at the completion of three playoff holes, Hallborg's par was good enough for him to take Individual Professional honors and take home $1,200. His win also resulted in a bonus $500 for winning the VGT Spring Order of Merit, winning over Phil Phil Jonas of McCleery Golf Course and Hazelmere by only $400.

Hallborg also captured the Pro-am Team title on the day as his amateur team of Brian Pyper, Ian McMurtie and Christine Cartwright (shown in picture) shot a two-best net score of -23 on the day! Our Low Championship Amateur score was posted by Corey Steger with a score of 74, one shot over Stephen Jenkins with a 75.

Johnston Meier's Insurance representative Dave Ebner was in attendance on the day and had the following comments about the tournament "The VGT Spring Championship was a well run event which Johnston Meier Insurance Group was proud to be a part of. We look forward to years of involvement with the tour down the road".

Johnston Meier's Insurance is a local Insurance group based in the Lower Mainland with its head office in Maple Ridge. During the event, Johnston Meier's provided two opportunities for the players to have a shot of their life by insuring two $10,000 Hole-in-one's. Although there were a few stories on the day of 'close calls', no-one was the recipient of these cash awards!

Our next event is scheduled for June 30- July 2nd. Registration for this event will be taken through the Ledgeview Golf Course. Please download the following form and send or fax your payment directly to Ledgeview to enter. VGT players who play in this event will be awarded critical Order of Merit Points for the Year Ending Point Standings. The top 10 golf professionals on our Order of Merit not already invited to play the Ledgeview Open are now exempt for this event. Once we have the 2007 invitation list from Ledgeview, the top 10 VGT players not on this list will be listed on the website.

Our June 18th event at Redwoods Golf Course has for now been postponed due to facility complications and we will have an announcement of the new tournament date when things have been finalized.

Good golfing!
