Hallborg finds his form at a very fair
Mayfair
VGT Summer Series #4
Sponsored by The Pest Detective
Presented by Richmond News and The Delta Optimist
Jeff Hallborg of High Knoll Golf Centre in Surrey
proved his game is back in form again after a back injury that
has plagued him since the middle of June. Hallborg rattled off
four birdies and an eagle on 11 on route to a 65 and one shot
victory over Canadian Tour veteran Matt Daniel who scored 66.
Alone in third place was Fraserview’s Dan Swanson with a score
of 67…..who had he not lost a ball just off the 18th fairway,
this tournament could have been heading to a sudden death
playoff!

With ideal scoring conditions, including perfect
greens and benign wind conditions, nine golf professionals broke
par over the 18-hole tournament. Hallborg’s victory pushed him
up to 6th place on the Vancouver Golf Tour Order of Merit
Standings, some $4,000 behind current leader Phil Jonas of
Hazelmere and McCleery. Jonas now sits almost $2,500 ahead of
Redwoods Golf Professional Andrew Smeeth in the VGT Order of
Merit Standings with just two events remaining. Low amateur
honors went to Caine Lacusta with a very respectable score of
73.
In our Pro-am section of the tournament, the team
of Jeff Hallborg, Ian McMurtie, Jerry Duncan and Roger Harrison
were victorious for the third time this year with a team score
of -22.
