2008 JOHNSTON MEIER INSURANCE OPEN Tournament
Review:
“Parry near perfect in Pitt Meadows”
In VGT’s 7th event on the 2008 schedule, Seymour
Creek’s Bryn Parry cruised himself around
a stretched out Swan-e-set Bay Resort Course
with a bogey free round of 67 to earn himself
his first win on the 2008 Vancouver Golf Tour
schedule. Parry withstood the challenge of CAN
Tour veteran Andrew Smeeth who made four
birdies on his way to a fine round of 68.
Smeeth’s runner-up finish earned him $725 pushed
him into the top 10 in the VGT OOM this year.
Parry’s $1,000 first place cheque vaulted him
into 2nd Place Overall in the VGT Order of
Merit, $1,100 behind VGT’s OOM Leader Dan
Swanson with $4,583.33 in earnings to date this
year. Swanson helped his cause with a t3rd
place, shooting 72 and collecting $525.
In the Low Amateur side of the
tournament, some fine golf was played by two
young amateurs Daniel Webbe and Han Baek
who shared low honours with their rounds of 71
(-1). Through RCGA retrogression, Daniel Webbe
was declared the winner. For their great play,
both players won gift certificates for Perfect
Lies. In our 6-10 handicap flight of the
draw, Low Honours went to VGT’s own website
technician Michael West with a score of
86. Mike was also rewarded with Perfect Lies
Gift Certificates for his low round of the 6-10
flight. For a review on the JM Open, see the
